As pub popularity continues to dwindle, fashionable bars and coffee shops continue to grab our attention. We are increasingly looking to our favourites as a source of inspiration and devoting more time to creating the perfect home bar.
Here are five home bar trends you might fancy getting behind…
Your Own Bar in the Living Room
Home bars range from actual seating areas to rustic wooden cupboards prepped to store wine, to funky home centre pieces that scream I love to drink in style. There really is a home bar for every style of home.
Time to bring round the drinks trolley
There are so many ways to style a drinks trolley. My parents had a very practical Scandi style wood and white veneer one which would probably be fashionable again now. Whether you invest in a new one or give a new lease of life to a vintage car boot bargain or an antique globe, there is so much fun to be had with glasses, gadgets, vases of fake flowers and/or fun images to hang above your trolley. That’s before you have even got as far as wheeling it around your guests. Trollies make a real event of having friends over for drinks.
Take your cocktail making to new standards
Mixology has defintely reached new heights of cool and of risk. I had an amazing time with bartenders in setting cocktails alight in Barrio East in Shoreditch earlier this year. But before before you attempt this at home why not master a layer cocktail instead using this rainbow layering cocktail tool. Guaranteed to impress without the risk of setting anything alight.
If cocktail making to order isn’t your idea of a fun evening, why not invest in a drink dispenser? There are lots of lovely glass punch dispensers, which are a fun and welcoming way for guests to help themselves over the course of an evening, leaving you free to cook or just to enjoy the night.
Typography on glasses
Typography was a rising trend in wall art in 2016 so it is no wonder it is spreading to glasses too. Why not set the tone and welcome your guests with these ‘Be Happy, Be Bright, Be You’ gold lettering emblazoned glasses?
I promised six but it’s good to over deliver right? The Jam Jar trend continues and I love this little drinks kit from Kilner, complete with straws and labels. And of course, it’s not all about the alcohol, check out this very stylish black and silver coffee bar, because great coffee continues to be a big thing in many homes, and we need somewhere to stash all the coffee shop paraphernalia right?
What do you like to drink at home? Will you be upping your cocktail making skills or rethinking your drink storage?
