Through The Keyhole: The Place We Always Come Back To

through the keyhole the place we always come back to

When I started blogging as part of Wayfair.co.uk I had a hunch that perhaps there was more to blogging about creating a home than colour charts, trends and interior design. There is nothing more warm and reassuring than being invited into a real home, like today’s Through the Keyhole, with objects gathered over time and with love.

Just one of the many! I sometimes think we ought to open a book shop, but I don’t think I could be parted from them!

My favourite picture. Inherited from Granny in law it has hung above the fire place of every house we’ve lived in and it always feels comforting to know it’s there!

The first of my faithful companions – always on the side of the sofa or the edge of my desk.

The other faithful companion – always on top of what I reading or running off with whatever I’m working on, annoying little so and so, but I do love him!

My favourite place in the world, sheltered from the outside world, not overlooked by anyone and the scene of many many happy summer days with the family!

And what makes my home special? Nothing matches! There is no theme or interior design, just the mixed up collection of things we have gained over the years, none of them worth anything, but priceless with memories to us! It’s a haven from the outside world and the place we always come back to be a family!

One line caught my imagination in today’s through the keyhole….’the place we always come back to’, at first it seems obvious, of course home is our base, but there is also a sense of returning to what we are really about, to our true values and to a sanctuary there too.

This post reminds me no home can ever have enough bookcases, and whether we fill them with treasures from our travels, books, or objects and ornaments, every collection needs a space. Bookcases really are the unsung heroes of our homes, all these are under £150, some under £100.
